PRO 8: Nobody will be spared
The Police Regional Office 8 (PRO8) revealed that there are 49 police officers now under investigation of having been implicated with illegal drugs in the region.
In a radio interview recently, Chief Inspector Bella Duque Rentuaya, PRO8 spokesperson, said that these officers will be on the priority list of the investigation to be conducted by the Counter Intelligence Task Force coming from the national headquarters.
The “war on scalawags” will focus on cases for police personnel who are implicated on illegal drugs and nobody will be spared, Rentuaya explained.
The killing of a Korean national inside Camp Crame recently forced the police leadership to refocus its war on drugs citing police officers being involved the illegal drug trade.
Police Chief Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa said that he is embarrassed with the reality that the officers under him are actively involved in drug syndicates.
President Rodrigo Duterte, following the death of the Korean business has halted the war on drugs.
Noticeably, there had been an abrupt shut down to the series of killings on suspected narco individuals.
Close to 6000 individuals had been reportedly killed since Duterte came to office as a result of the war on drugs.
