Northern Samar was one of the provinces that badly hit by Typhoon Nona when it swept through the Philippines, December 14, 2015.
The latest Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Council (PDRRMC) partial disaster report says that the affected individuals are already reached to 576,194 and 124,274 families. While on the infrastructure is P743 million, in agriculture P956 million; totally damaged houses is 40,566 and partially damaged is 124,274.
The affected population as well as the provincial government is now in need an immediate assistance on shelter materials aside from food packs. “I am confident that the national government will not leave us alone,” Governor Jun Ong said.
The PDRRMC in cooperation with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) were able to distribute 114,000 food packs. “We have 200,000 G.I. sheets for distribution although we still have to get it from Ormoc City,” Ong adds.
